Baby Chicks 2018

Baby Chicks 2018

Here you have a post made solely for the purpose of sharing the cuteness of these precious baby chicks.

This sweetheart and this chick thoroughly enjoy each other.

Are they not the most delightful little buggers?

They are just a week old as of this posting, and so they are living in a brooder in our mudroom. The brooder is a large glass aquarium with a wire mesh top, wood shavings for bedding, and access to food and water. A heat lamp rests atop to keep their space a steady 90 degrees. Each week the temperature can be dropped five degrees or so until they are feathered and their temp. requirement allows for the removal of the lamp. Then we will move the girls outdoors to the coop.

Until then, we are enjoying watching the babies grow, and the sounds of their tiny chirps floating cheerily through the house.
